4. SafeSport Training
All officials and anyone associated with a junior club or dealing with junior players must be SafeSport trained before they can be assigned. As part of your SportsEngine registration, you will have to update your SafeSport training. After registering, SportsEngine will supply you with a list of items that you need to complete. This will include SafeSport. Follow the instructions to complete that list of items. The Core SafeSport Training is required first. Refreshers courses are offered every year after that. The Core training is required every 4th season.
5. USA Volleyball Academy
Once registered, each official must enroll in USAV Academy and complete the AZ Region Official's curriculum, which consists of online training modules. These modules are to be completed before attending any live officials' training clinics. The USAV Academy is accessed through your SportsEngine account.
In addition to taking online training modules, each official must take the Referee and Scoring tests through the USA Volleyball Academy. These tests should be completed before the start of the tournament schedule.
6. Live Clinic and Practical Evaluation
Attend a lecture clinic and practical evaluation clinic (the December pre-season practical evaluation clinics). Other training dates will also be available.
For the 2024-25 season - the lecture clinic and practical evaluations will take place at the AZ Kickoff Dec 20-22. The lecture clinic will take place prior to the practical evaluation scrimmages. Contact Stefany Pew to be scheduled for the practical evaluations and clinics.
7. ArbiterPay (formerly RefPay) and Arbiter Sports
All paid officials must have an ArbiterPay (formerly RefPay) account that is linked to the AZ Region ArbiterSports group AND an ArbiterSports account. The AZ Region ArbiterSports group ID is 108723
The ArbiterSports account is where officials will list their availability and review and accept their assignments.
The ArbiterPay account is where the AZ Region will transfer money earned by an official. Payroll is paid bi-weekly from December - May; monthly for September - November. If the official does not have an ArbiterPay account linked to the AZ Region ArbiterSports account the money can't be transferred. Checks will not be issued by the AZ Region for official's pay.
Once you have contacted Stefany Pew and purchased an AZ Region/USAV membership, you will receive an invitation from Kailee Jodarski to join ArbiterSports.com with a new account. If you already have an Arbiter account, email our Assigner Kailee Jodarski at assignor@azregionvolleyball.org and ask to be accepted into the ArbiterSports group. Once invited, you will be able to list your availability for competition dates. Also - you MUST mark yourself Ready to be Assigned or she cannot assign you to any tournament crew. NOTE: The invitations to join Arbiter normally happen in very early January.
8. Fall General Assembly
Mark your calendar for the 3rd Sunday in September. The Arizona Region General Assembly is held and there is an Officals' Division meeting where you can meet other officials, coaches, club directors and the Region Leadership.
