  • Tournament START Time:  8 am

Region Championships tournaments are here. The format is very different than our regular power tournaments. The tournament will start the 1st match at 8 am and last most of the day instead of just half day. Lots of information follows. Please read it!!

Parents: There is no lunch break built into the tournament. Please bring food with you or send someone for food. Neither the coach nor the players should leave the site for food. Do not stop for lunch when moving to another site for bracket play. The bracket play will start when teams have arrived to start the tournament. Sites are in contact with each other to know when play has ended at each site. Penalties for being late to ref assignments or match play will be enforced. Several sites have snack bars open for business if food can't be brought with you.

PLEASE DO NOT TAKE ANY FOOD OR DRINKS INTO ANY GYM. ALL COOLERS ARE TO BE LEFT OUTSIDE. NO EXCEPTIONS ARE ALLOWED AT ANY GYM. ONLY WATER IN CLOSED CONTAINERS FOR PLAYERS AND COACHES IS ALLOWED IN THE GYMS.

NO COOKING OR HEATING OF ANY KIND IS ALLOWED AT ANY OF OUR SITES AS WELL.

NO ALCOHOL IS ALLOWED ON THE CAMPUSES OF ANY OF OUR SITES - NOT EVEN ON A SATURDAY OR SUNDAY FOR ADULTS ONLY. THE SCHOOLS ARE ALCOHOL, TOBACCO AND DRUG FREE ZONES 24/7 - THIS IS A STATE LAW.

PLEASE CLEAN UP YOUR TEAM CAMP AREA. PLEASE BAG YOUR TRASH AND TAKE IT WITH YOU. DO NOT LEAVE WRAPPERS AND FOOD BEHIND. THIS IS ALSO A GOOD WAY TO MAKE SURE NO OTHER PERSONAL ITEMS ARE LEFT BEHIND.

Coaches: Come to check in with a CURRENT WebPoint roster (no handwritten rosters, no team lists) your picture ID and medical release forms for each player on your team. The roster submitted should be current and signed by the coach. Any player on the roster that is not there should be crossed off. Any player or coach not listed on the roster is not eligible to participate.

Division Play -

The seeding is based on the finish of the last power tournament. There was no movement up or down after the last tournament. Teams stayed in the order of finish for seeding of the Region Championships. Teams are snake seeded into pools of 4-8 teams within their respective age divisions:

  • 14 Championship - 19 teams
  • 13 Championship - 16 teams
  1. 4-team pools in 13 Championship will have normal pool play (3 matches each)
  2. 7-team pools will be split into 2 pools:
    • the 3 team pool will play normal pool play
    • the 4-team pool will have modified pool play (1 v 4, 2 v 3, loser v loser, winner v winner)
    • pool play to be followed by cross-pool matches (e.g. B1-1st v B2-1st, B1-2nd v B2-2nd, etc.)
  3. 8-team pools will be split into 2 pools of 4 teams and will have modified pool play (1 v 4, 2 v 3, loser v loser, winner v winner) to be followed by cross-pool matches (e.g. B1-1st v B2-1st, B1-2nd v B2-2nd, etc.)

Most teams will need to travel to another site for their bracket play (13 Championship will stay at the same site). The brackets will be 4 or 5 team single elimination brackets with consolation games for place.  Pools listed below are the starting locations.

Important Tournament Information - Please Read!

  • COVID-19 Restrictions The health and safety of our participants is first and foremost in our minds as we set out on this season. Restrictions will be in place until such time as COVID-19 is no longer in the pandemic stage. These restrictions are to preserve the health and safety of our participants as well as allow the facilities we use to remain open for business. Those violating any of the restrictions will be asked to leave the premises and not return.

SPECTATORS AND WRIST BANDS: Each team is restricted to a maximum of 3 spectators in the building at one time. Coaches and 3 Spectators have wristbands (held by the coach) that must be worn to enter the facility. Only players in uniform, on the roster and in attendance do not need a wristband. Everyone else in attendance that does not have a wristband must remain outside until they are given a wristband to enter.

TEAM CAMPS: Team camp areas should be restricted in size to provide social distancing and allow for the players and coaches to be present in the team camp.

REMINDER FOR TEAM CAMPS:  The AZ Region has a Pack It In, Pack It Out policy.  All team camps should be cleaned up at the end of the day and the trash from each team camp should be taken home to dispose of.  Especially in this time of COVID, we need to help out the site directors and take our own trash home.

MASKS: Everyone who comes into the gym must wear a mask over their nose and mouth at all times .  This includes the players actively playing on the court.
