Club #6 - 4/20/19

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT TEAM CAMPS

Sites will document any issues with excessive trash left behind at team camps and/or team benches, indicating the club/team responsible, if known.  Even if the specific irresponsible club/team is unidentified, the Region will still follow up with all clubs present that wave to make directors aware of this unacceptable situation.  As always, ALCOHOL IS PROHIBITED AT ALL AZ REGION EVENTS!  While many teams setup team camps as an opportunity for the teams to gather and bond during their breaks from play, several groups are abusing this privilege with the false notion that sites are required to provide space and clean up all their trash.  Team camps are a privilege, not a right.  We recommend the same approach as if camping in the wilderness: pack out what you pack in (i.e. bring trash bags and take the full bags with you when leaving).  Sites should not have to clean anything up outside (and minimally inside). If abuse of this privilege continues, future restrictions may be warranted (possibly including, but not limited to, fines and/or elimination of all team camps).

Non-Seeding Championship/Club Tournament Format

Coaches Meeting: 7:30 am START Time (AM Wave), 2:30 pm (PM Wave)

Tournament START Time: 8 am (AM Wave) and 3 pm (PM Wave)

  • Check-in should be completed at the tournament desk 1/2 hour prior to the tournament first match start time. A picture ID for each coach on the roster is required along with a medical release form for each player on the roster. A current verified SportsEngine or specific event AES roster is required to be signed and turned into the site director for use at the tournament. There is an 8 point penalty to the team's first match if the coach is not checked in 1/2 hour prior the tournament first match start time.
  • It is the goal of the Arizona Region to provide a paid R1 on every court for every tournament.  However, this is becoming harder to accomplish.  Every coach should come prepared to R1 on their court during their team ref assignment - bring a whistle.  If a paid R1 is on your court, that is a bonus.  If there is not, you are prepared.
  • In this time of COVID, teams may drop from the tournament late.  This will change the format for the day.  All teams should be checked in, on site and ready to play at the first match start time.
  • Rosters are required to have correct jersey numbers. The rosters will be checked off by the site director at check in. You are required to have your verfied SportsEngine or event specific AES roster (contact your club director regarding missing players/coaches).
  • Format - Teams are straight seeded into divisions of 6-8 teams. Teams will play 4 team pools. region bracket formats. Following this tournament 1st Place teams will move up, 4 teams stay and 4th Place teams will move down a division for the next tournament play (unless the next tournament is the Region Championship). Match play is best 2 of 3 sets to 25, 3rd set to 15, if needed. If there is pool play - ties will be resolved by the new USAV procedure adopted for 2020 (paraphrased as follows):
    1. 2 way tie by match % - the head to head winner of those 2 teams earns the higher pool finish
    2. 3 way tie by match % - finish determined by set % (sets won / total sets played)
      • if 2 teams are tied by set % after one team's finish is determined by having the highest or lowest set %, then the head to head winner of those 2 teams earns the higher pool finish
    3. 3 way tie by match % and set % - finish determined by point % (points won / total points played)
      • if 2 teams are tied by point % after one team's finish is determined by having the highest or lowest point %, then the head to head winner of those 2 teams earns the higher pool finish
