BOYS REGION CHAMPIONSHIPS TOURNAMENT FORMAT

  • Coaches Meeting: 8:30 START Time
  • Tournament START Time:  9 am
  • Check-in should be completed at the tournament desk prior to the Coaches meeting. A picture ID for each coach on the roster is required along with a medical release form for each player on the roster. A current WebPoint roster is required to be signed and turned into the site director for use at the tournament. There is an 8 point penalty to the team's first match if the coach is not checked in BEFORE the Coaches Meetings AND/OR if the coach does not attend the Coaches meeting. Teams are not allowed to participate until completing the check-in process with all of these items.
  • Rosters are required to have correct jersey numbers. The rosters will be checked off by the site director at check in. Hand written rosters will not be allowed (write-ins of players and/or coaches are also not permitted).
  • Format - This varies by division due to the specific number of teams (follows). Pool play may be followed by a cross-pool match of the corresponding finish in the other pool of the division or bracket play. Match play is best 2 of 3 sets to 25, 3rd set to 15, if needed. Pools of 4 will play a total of 4 matches (1v4, 2v3, winner v winner, runner-up vs runner-up).
    1. 18s Division - Pools A-D, grouped into 3 teams (Pool A2 is 4 teams), followed by cross pool match. Cross pool match determines the bracket.
    2. 17s Division - Pools A-C, 3 team pools, followed by single set tie breaker playoffs between 2nd place pool finishers. Winner of tie breaker playoffs joins the three 1st place finishers to make a 4 team Gold bracket; remaining 5 teams in Silver bracket.
    3. 16s Division - Pools A-D, Pool A1 is 3 teams, Pool A2 is 2 teams, Pools B-D are 4 team pools. Cross pool match (Pool A only) or pool finish (Pools B-D) determine the bracket (4th and 5th place finishers in Pool A will both be in Flight 1).
    4. 15s Division - Pools A-C, 3 team pools, followed by single set tie breaker playoffs between 2nd place pool finishers. Winner of tie breaker playoffs joins the three 1st place finishers to make a 4-team Gold bracket; remaining 5 teams in Silver bracket.
    5. 14s Division - Pools A-D, 4 team pools (Pool A is 3 teams), pool finish determines the bracket.
  • Ties in pool play will be resolved by tie-breaker sets seeding using the standard procedure: 2 way tie = head-to-head; 3 way tie = set % (sets won / total sets played), then if needed point % (points won / total points played) -- at no time will head-to-head apply in a 3 way tie. For 3-way ties, 2nd and 3rd place finishers determined by the above method will play a single deciding set to 25 (1st place finisher will be the work team); winner plays the 1st team (with other team as the work team).
  • 18s, 16s and 14s teams may travel to another site for their bracket.  Please GO DIRECTLY TO THE SITE so play can begin.  Bracket play will start immediately after pool play for 15s and 17s.
  • Awards - First place in the Gold Division will receive a Gold medal and a Championship t-shirt. Second place in the Gold Division will receive a silver medal.
