second straight NAIA Region II Tournament appearance in 2005. Winning
over 20 matches for the second season in a row, Gulbranson returns
for the 2006 season with high goals for her sixth year at Vanguard
University. Since awakening
a slumbering program, Gulbranson has nearly balanced her overall
record at Vanguard, tallying a 77-81 mark after the 2005 record of
23-11. Gulbranson was a 4-year team captain as a player at Cal State
Bakersfield, and helped lead the Roadrunners to 3 NCAA Division II
Championship appearances and 2 second-place finishes.
She has over
13 years of coaching experience to her credit, including junior club,
high school, college, international, individual, camp, and clinic
experience. At the university level, Erikka has served as an assistant
at CSUB, University of Idaho, Utah State University, and University
of Southern California.
The
past four summers, Gulbranson has been coaching with USA Volleyball
in international
competition. After serving two seasons as an assistant coach, Gulbranson
became the USA Girls Youth National Team head coach and led the team
to a fourth place finish at the FIVB U-18 World Championships in
China in 2005. This summer, Gulbranson was moved up to the assistant
coach position of the USA Women's Junior National Team, where
the USA won the U-20 gold medal in Mexico. Fresh from international
competition, Gulbranson is fired up to try for another VU school
record, a fourth straight winning season. She enters the 2006 season
as the winningest coach in VU volleyball history. Melissa Wolter
Entering her fourth
season at the helm of West Florida, head coach Melissa Wolter
has contributed to the rise of Argonaut volleyball. Since
arriving in 2003, Wolter has compiled a 53-21 record. In
six career seasons as a head coach, Wolter is 89-72. Last
season Wolter led West Florida to a 24-7 record, and the
Argonauts third appearance in the Gulf South Conference Tournament.
The 2005 squad set team records for games played, kills,
total attacks, digs, blocks, service aces and assists. Four
Argonauts also earned All-GSC accolades.
In
her first year at West Florida, Wolter led the Argonauts
to a record of
24-7, including a 15-match winning streak. The Argonauts
also earned their second straight bid to the GSC Tournament.
West Florida made their first appearance in the American
Volleyball Coaches Association Top 25 and ended the season
nationally ranked in hitting percentage (25th), kills per
game (20th) and assists per game (26th). Wolter
came to West Florida from NCAA Division II Wisconsin-Parkside
in Kenosha, Wisc. She was the head coach of the Rangers for
three years after serving as an assistant. Wolter led the
Rangers to their seventh straight Great Lakes Valley Conference
Tournament in 2002 with a record of 16-11.
Last
summer, Wolter was an assistant coach with the USA Volleyball
Youth National A2 Team. The team competed in the junior and
youth division of the USAV High Performance Championships
in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Wolter earned the high honor of
serving as an assistant coach for the USA Youth National
Under-18 National Team for two summers. In 2005, Wolter traveled
with the team to the Federation Internationale de Volleyball
World Championships in China. At the 2004 North, Central
America and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation Championships
in Puerto Rico, Wolter helped coached The USA Youth National
U-18 Team to a 4-0 record and a gold medal.
In
2002, Wolter was the chair of the Badger Region High Performance
programs, the entry level program for the USA Volleyball
pipeline. She has also coached Junior Olympic volleyball
with teams such as the Wisconsin Power, Milwaukee Sting and
Wisconsin Select. Wolter
has 12 years experience with volleyball camps around
the country. This summer, she directed the Gulf Coast Region
High Performance Camp in Pensacola. Wolter was also director
