Bruisers Turn Season Around to Score Region 16A Victory

Zia's 16-Bruisers team used a tough win earlier in the day to spring board to a two set win over the Club Zion 16's to win the 16A Division held May 7th.

"As the day went on, the girls got better and better." said head coach Dale Jones. "It was great. They girls were hustling after every ball and they never quit. It makes the day a lot more fun."Jones says smiling.

Jones notes that the Bruisers season was one of highs and lows. "In the beginning they started out really strong and they looked really good and they started letting up and got a little cocky I think, and I was maybe too easy on them." Jones recalls. "But when we got back from California, I started riding them harder. And maybe that's what changed their attitudes. I think it was always there, they just maybe let it go for a couple of tournaments."

Jones, who was assisted by his daughter Whitney, said the last day of the season was a personal highlight. "It makes for a great day." He says laughing. "I haven't had that much fun in a long time!"
