Coed Leagues Begin June 29

With the Arizona Region moving into the Court One Athletics building we are now able to realize a dream that we have had for over 15 years. The dream has been to run our own leagues in a location that is consistent and that we will not be put out due to a basketball team wanting to shoot around.

Registration is now open for Regular Coed 4's in Competitive and Recreational divisions and in Regular Coed Recreational 6's. The first session begins June 29th and ends Aug 3rd. All play will take place at the Court One Athletics facility - 9100 S. McKemy Street, Tempe, AZ 85284.

Lora Webster Appears at Sol Survivor

Arizona’s own Lora Webster, a two-time medalist on the USA National Sitting Team will be in attendance Saturday, June 11th at the Sol Survivor Challenge tournament to sign autographs, give tips and pointers and coach those interested in trying sitting volleyball.

The Sol Survivor Challenge tournament will be held at Court One Athletics facility - 9100 S. McKemy Street, Tempe, AZ 85284 - on Saturday, June 11 and Sunday, June 12. The tournament was added to the AZ Region schedule to give those teams attending Jr Nationals or Volleyball Festival a chance to compete during the long break between the end of the AZ Region indoor season and the start of the end of season tournaments.

This year the tournament will feature a sitting volleyball demonstration and experience for anyone wishing to join in. All proceeds of this tournament will be given to the US Women's Sitting Volleyball team. The US Women's Sitting Volleyball team has already qualified for the 2012 Paralympic Games to be held in London following the 2012 Olympic Games.

Beach Play Kicks Off

The Arizona Region indoor season has come to a close but the beach is just heating up. May 17th kicks off the first of 26 total tournaments offered by the Arizona Region. The Desert Open offered by USA Volleyball as part of their Junior Beach Tour stops in Phoenix on May 28 & 29.
