Volleyball and AVCA Hosts NCAA Men’s Championship

COLORADO
SPRINGS, Colo. – USA Volleyball and the American Volleyball
Coaches Association will conduct its NCAA Men’s Championship
Coaching Clinic on Saturday, May 6, at Penn State University’s
Rec Hall in the South Gym prior to the finals of the NCAA National
Collegiate Men’s Volleyball Championship.
The
clinic features USA Volleyball Men’s National Team Head
Coach Hugh McCutcheon, Penn State University Head Women’s
Volleyball Coach Russ Rose, AVCA Executive Director Kathy DeBoer,
Rutgers-Newark Head Men’s Volleyball Coach Sean Byron
and University of Maryland Head Men’s Volleyball Club
Coach Shang Hsiung.
Check-in begins at 8 a.m. with the
clinic running from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. McCutcheon will present
session one
on “Dynamic Blocking” from 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. The
75-minute second session beginning at 10:30 a.m. features an
option between DeBoer’s presentation on “Gender and
Competition: Practice Like a Girl, Compete Like a Boy – Training
the Total Athlete” or Byron’s session on “Jump
Serving and Receiving”.
After lunch, the third session begins at 2:30
p.m. and offers a choice between “Drills, Drills and More Drills for Training
Team Systems” presented by Rose or “Setter Development” offered
by Hsiung. The fifth session, presented by McCutcheon and Rose,
will be a 45-minute analysis of the NCAA semifinal matches played
May 4.
Members of both USAV and AVCA can reserve a spot in the clinic
on an Early Bird special price of $90 by May 1. Late registration
for dual members is $95 by May 5. On-site registration for dual
members is $105.
Early Bird registration for members of either USAV or AVCA is
$100, late registration fee is $105 and on-site registration
is $115.
The clinic welcomes coaches who are not currently members of
either organization. Early Bird registration for non-member coaches
is $110, $115 in the Late Registration category and $125 for
on-site registration.
Since space is limited within the clinic, all late registrants
should call for space availability.
All attendees will receive clinic handouts, box lunch, certificate
good for four USAV Coaching Accreditation Program (CAP) modules
credits, Mizuno T-shirt and chance to win USAV and AVCA door
prizes.
The NCAA National Collegiate Men’s Volleyball Championship
match will take place at 7 p.m. on May 6. Tickets for the championship
match can be purchased along with a clinic registration for an
additional $15 through the clinic’s negotiated ticket price.
Cost of Attendance: Early Bird (by 5/1) – Late (from 5/2
to 5/5) – On-Site
Member of both USAV and AVCA: $90 – $95 – $105
Member of USAV or AVCA: $100 – $105 – $115
Member of neither USAV or AVCA: $110 – $115 – $125
NCAA Championship Finals Ticket: $15 each* – At
ticket office
