Gold Medal Squared Coming
to the Valley
The Arizona Region is
proud to announce that the Gold Medal Squared Volleyball
Coaches clinic will be in Tempe August 12-14th at Arizona
State University.
The clinicians are legends
in the volleyball community and constitute a wealth of knowledge.
They include; Carl McGown, former Head Coach of the BYU Men’s
team that won National Championships in 1999 and 2001 as
well as a technical advisor for the Men’s Olympic Program,
Doug Beal, the Head Coach of the Men’s Olympic teams
and the current CEO of USA Volleyball, and Marv Dunphy, the
former head coach of the U.S. Men’s Olympic team and
the current coach at Pepperdine University.
This clinic has
been selected as an alternative to IMPACT recertification
for the upcoming season. For more information on how to substitute
this clinic for IMPACT recertification, contact the Region
office.

CAP
course comes to Arizona in 2005
Southwestern
Regional Volleyball Camp in Prescott, AZ is sponsoring a
CAP I, CAP II and IMPACT Instruction July 14-16, 2005. John
Kessel (USA National Director of Beach, Grassroots and Disabled
Volleyball) and Sue Gozansky (UC Riverside Women's Volleyball
Head Coach) tentative are the cadre.
IMPACT
Instruction topics include: Intro to Learning Motor Skills,
Fundamental Skills, Intro to Drill Development, Intro to
Practice Design, and Communication and Feedback.
CAP
1 level topics include: Teaching the Skills, Motor Skill
Learning, Coaching Philosophy, Ethics and Legal Duties, FUNdamentals
Level 1, Drill Design Theory and Implementation and Practice
Preparation and Implementation. Optional modules offered
at this course include: Session 1. Setter Techniques OR Designing
Drills on Your Feet; Session 2. Parent/Fan Issues OR Serve
Receive Systems.
