Arizona HS Star Competes at USA Open Championships

Tyler Hildebrand, a Mesa Red Mountain grad recently competed in the Open Division of the 2002 USA Open Championships in Dallas, Texas.  Hildebrand, bound for Long Beach State this fall, was actually the backup setter for Surf City, based in Tucson, Arizona.  However, #1 setter Steve Walker, suffering from the flu, was replaced by the 18-year old Hildebrand.  It was an outstanding experience for this Arizona product as he helped the Surf City team finish 3rd in the very competitive Open division.

Hildebrand is also set to compete with Club Cactus Jrs. 18-1 boys team at the Boys Junior National Championships in Louisville, KY.  The team will compete in Louisville from July 3rd - 6th in an attempt to better their 3rd place finish last year in the 18-Open Division.

Good Luck Tyler and Club Cactus Juniors 18-1.
